Since color has both cultural and learned behavior, color on a website can cause predestined behavior. For example, we have been taught that red means “stop” at the traffic light and green means “forward”. The same happens on products that have to send a certain message to the customer with their colors.
About 80% The information the brain receives is visual. The decision whether you want to buy something is made within 90 seconds of observing the product, and 60 seconds of observing the product.% The decision to buy a product refers to the experience of color. This is very important because a person is bombarded daily with about 3,500-4,000 marker messages and it is very important that the buyer in this sea of information notices exactly what we want.
For example, when passing a particular product, it takes about 1/20 to half a second to notice it based on colour. The choice of colors on the product must be such as to cause a feeling of comfort, because in such a short time the brain perceives only the chosen colors, and the rest neglects even though people are often unaware of it. People when buying a product satisfy their sociological and psychological elements more than they think about the product itself.
The connection between sociological and psychological elements is visible at every step. One architect, choosing the entrance to the building, chose a blue color that was supposed to represent calmness, but due to the sun and the game, the light shade of blue turned into gray and did not achieve the desired effect. Similarly, another architect in the restaurant imagined a red line under the buffet and it was noticed that people did not cross that line because the red line is a warning for danger.
When making a website, it is important to know who the product is intended for. If the auto industry is advertised, marketing messages are intended for men. Therefore, in the auto industry, metallic paints are very often used, along with which men tend to idealize products.
On the other hand, when making websites that are intended for women, the colors that should not be used are brown, black, blue. Instead, the colors to be used on these pages are purple, pink, red, yellow, orange and generally shades that are more gentle because it has been proven that the intensity of the color is almost more important for the experience than the tone of the color itself.
When making websites, in the choice of colors must think about the following factors:
- which half-layer the product is intended for – whether they are men, women, children, the elderly, the younger, etc.;
- 2. learned prejudice – black represents a color that cannot be linked in our culture to, say, a wedding website, or e.g. a website for apartments for renting at sea, the color on the site must not be green because it will connect with the dirty sea and the bar;
- 3. Interaction with background – so that the text cannot be read due to poor colour selection;
- 4. Color contrast nearby,
- 5. and the size of the observation field.
